Brian Currie began working from his home as a sole practitioner in 1973 as BL Currie Surveyor. He was joined by Wayne Birt in 1991 when the business was called Brian Currie Surveyors. A partnership was formed between Brian and Wayne in 1999 and was known as Birt & Currie Surveyors. The business shortly afterwards moved from Brian’s home in Onerahi to a rented office at 7 Norfolk Street, Regent. Wayne bought Brian’s remaining share of the business in 2005 and formed the Birt Surveying Trust, which trades as Birt & Currie Surveyors Ltd. The business was then moved to 2A Deveron Street. Brian retired in 2008. In 2009 Birt & Currie Surveyors undertook a restructure and Wayne began practising as a sole practitioner from an office in his home, which is on land that has been farmed by the Birt family since the 1930’s. The business has gone through a full circle.
